Mike Jaramillo created and manages CSU’s College of Business (COB) Undergraduate Programs Office, providing such services as academic advising and support, recruiting, retention, diversity/inclusivity efforts, GO Abroad initiatives, scholarships, commencement, and class scheduling. Mike is responsible for the implementation of academic policies and procedures for the COB. He works closely with faculty and staff on academic issues, and assists students as they navigate their way through the University and the College of Business academic system.
Mike has developed several award winning retention programs (COB Mentoring Program, Business Diversity and Leadership Alliance, Global Business Network, Proactive Probation Program, etc.) that have positively impacted the COB retention rate (87% freshmen, 93.7% overall COB) and the COB graduation rates (68.5% 4-year, 74.7% 5-year, and 81.7% 6-year). He has also developed programs specifically focused on diversity and inclusion for business students, faculty and staff, such as a Social Justice Workshop series. He facilitates and presents diversity, social justice, and inclusivity workshops and trainings for various groups on campus. He collaborates with other departments to ensure that the COB offers an inclusive and inviting culture. Mike also has taught BUS496 – Social Justice and Leadership — for business students for the past 20 years.
He is a member of several committees and collaborations such as the University’s Admissions Advisory Committee, the COB Undergraduate Curriculum Committee, and the COB Scholarship Committee. He also chairs the COB Admission Appeals Committee.
